Created for a competition to re-design the anti-fraud messaging for the Long Beach City Auditor's office of Laura Doud. Our 'Clarifying Fraud' campaign was selected as the winner out of three group entries. It was officially rolled out as the new anti-fraud campaign for Long Beach City Employees in November, 2012.

Re-branding project for 2nd Street Optical: a retail store changing ownership and getting a visual overhaul, in order to reach a more modern clientele. New identity turns the store from a mom & pop optical store into a fashionable boutique experience.
Progress on re-branding had to be somewhat methodical, as this location has been privately owned and operated in Long Beach for over 20 years. The new owner started by having me create a sale postcard and ad for the final clearance as "2nd Street Optical" -- then I created all new identity materials for the transition into the new ownership and branding as "Second Street Optique."

Freelance Art Direction and brand development for a beverage company's product that makes flavored shots of alcohol. Although the product is still in the development process - the technology, name, and logos have been trademarked.
Shown here is the brand guidelines document that was developed to govern how this client can use their newly developed brand. Note that the photography section is purely art direction on how the product should be shot, once it is completed.

Bicycle Brand Concept: Viage

We aim to create a new category of transportation that appeals to young professionals living in urban environment. It is our goal to revolutionize travel by introducing a hybrid cycle that uses self-recharging lithium battery combined with human power. We aspire to be more than just a product, but a lifestyle brand that appeals to the independent, and forward-thinking individuals who value innovation, quality and purposeful design. Re-Brand Launch & Event Marketing: James Events
Re-Brand launch materials created for James Events, an event planning company. The focus of their re-brand was to take their "party planning business" into more upscale and specialty events.
Event Materials created for an open house, where this client showcased their event planning capabilities. This event occurred one month after the re-brand launch, so the materials tied back to the “tearing open” visual theme.

Social Media Contest: Genius Retractable Screens
In an effort to increase their social media traffic and client base, I created graphic elements for a Facebook contest that helped showcase the beautiful difference a new screen door can make to your home. The contest allowed users to submit photos of their old, damaged screen windows/doors, and be entered to win a new retractable one to replace it with. Through this campaign, they reached nearly 87,000 users and increased their audience by 645 percent.
User Interface: CareConnect
Icon and menu functionality design for a touchscreen home healthcare and communication device. Targeted towards the senior population that aren't quite tech-savvy enough to use a computer, smartphone or tablet.
I worked with the head engineer to design all of the icons that appear in the menus and worked with programmers to direct the user interface and screen design, so that it is simple and user friendly. Product is still in the development stages.

Product Branding & Presentation
Presentation designed as a stand-alone informational guide.
My love for eco-friendly product engineering, combined with my love for packaging and graphic design, were the driving force behind this re-design of a popular Starbucks product. Please Note: This was completed before Starbucks launched their line of "Refreshers." I guess we were thinking along the same lines, in more than one way.
I am the sole author of this product concept and all accompanying images. Patent pending. (student project)

Event Marketing: Stars in Adoption
Concepted and designed these marketing pieces, including event logotype, to correlate with the name of the event and it's location at the CA Science Center. The sponsorship email was the client's first priority - in order to start raising funds for the event. A postcard and poster were the second priority, in order to market the event as far in advance as possible.
Olive Crest is a non-profit organization that offers a broad spectrum of care for abused, neglected and at-risk children and their families.

Ads: Congregation Ale House

This ad campaign was created for the Congregation Ale House (CAH) in Long Beach, CA. After consuming many delicious beverages at the CAH, Farah and I decided it best to use the pub's Cathartic motif as our inspiration.
We wrote lines that essentially turned actual prayers into booze-based rules to live by. We borrowed religious art from Illuminated Manuscripts and other ancient prints as our basis - illustrating the drinking behavior that is instilled in the new "prayer" lines. (student project)

Book Cover: Mud Monster
This book cover was created for ceramics artist Matt Wedel. The typography in clay is hand drawn and photographed. The overall design was inspired by the playful nature of Wedel's sculptures and his explorative work habits that have led to some of the best sculptural work I've seen. This design was selected to be presented in the 2011 AIGA "Emerge" Student Design Exhibit at OTIS College of Art and Design, Los Angeles. (student project)

This is a self-promo piece that I am using as a creative leave-behind for design and ad agencies in Portland. This one was personalized for Wieden+Kennedy.
A short story develops as each panel of the box is opened. Resume info appears on the two grey half-flaps that cover the center of the box. Inside the center of the box are 6 double-sided cards that show more of my work.

Annual Report: Altura CU
2011 Annual report designed for Altura Credit Union. I followed their current brand guidelines to create a report that fit in with their current marketing materials. I also concepted and created the image compositions on the section divider pages - each one highlighting an area in the region where their branches are located.
This was an interactive pdf that was distributed online only.

Ads: Duct Tape
These three magazine ads were created for Duct Tape brand and there were no restrictions on the content or creative direction for this project. I decided to turn this print campaign into an illustrated comic book series that show comical situations where Duct Tape ended up saving the day. (student project)

Instruction Manual: Breathe Technologies
Instructions for Use Manual designed for Breathe Technologies in 2012. Document is 88 pages long, or 44 spreads, and saddle-stitched. Contents include: technical information, graphs, charts, and statistics about the Breathe NIOV medical device. This manual was created specifically for medical clinicians to use as a reference guide for usage, care, troubleshooting, and repair of the device.
